Good to know

Results on election night are unofficial. Mail ballots, provisional ballots and overseas ballots can take days to count in some states, so leads can change.
States certify official results in the weeks after Election Day. Close races can go to a recount under state law.
New senators and House members take office on January 3, 2027. Governors start on dates set by each state.
