Privacy Policy

Effective September 30, 2026

This policy explains what information Midterm Election 2026 ("we") and our partners collect when you visit this website, and the choices you have. We wrote it for visitors in the United States, including residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws.

Information we collect

• We do not ask for your name, address, or account. There are no user accounts.
• On your device only: your prediction-game picks, chosen state, music setting and privacy choice are saved in your browser's local storage. They never reach our servers.
• Server and security logs: our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) processes IP addresses and request details to deliver the site and block attacks.
• Reader poll (optional): when you vote, we store your answer, the date, and whether the vote came from the United States (from your IP address's country). To allow one vote per day, we store a one-way salted hash of your IP address and browser type for no more than 2 days; we cannot turn it back into your IP address. We never ask for your name or email. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are human and processes technical data about your browser under Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy terms. Poll answers can reveal political opinions; we publish only totals and never link an answer to a person.
• Sharing: share buttons are plain links. No social media scripts or tracking pixels load on our pages.
• Newsletter (optional): if you subscribe, your email address is stored by our email provider and used only to send the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act.

Advertising and cookies

We show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, measure them and, unless you opt out, personalize them based on your visits to this and other websites. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com. Some ads served by Google may be election ads; Google verifies those advertisers and shows its own "Paid for by" disclosures. We do not select individual ads.

"Sale" and "sharing" under state law

Allowing ad partners to use cookie data for personalized advertising may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising", under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and similar laws in states such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and others. You can opt out at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. When you opt out, we instruct Google to use Restricted Data Processing, which serves only non-personalized ads to you.

Global Privacy Control: we honor the GPC signal. If your browser sends it, we treat it as an opt-out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising automatically.

We do not sell personal information of anyone we know to be under 16, and we do not use sensitive personal information.

Your rights

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising, and to appeal a decision about your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Because we hold very little information linked to you, most requests are handled by the opt-out above and by Google's tools. Visitors outside the United States

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before any personalized advertising.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them (COPPA). The prediction game is for users 13 and older.

Retention and security

We keep newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe. The site is served only over HTTPS with modern security headers.
