Early Voting 2026: How It Works and Where to Find Your Dates
Published by Midterm Results Live · · Voting guide
Voting rules and dates can change. Confirm details with the official state or local election office linked in this guide.
Early voting lets eligible voters cast a ballot in person before Election Day where that option is available. The schedule and locations are set under state and local election rules. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission explains that early voting may take place at an election office or at a polling location, depending on the state.
Find your dates and location
- Open the EAC state voter information directory and select your state or territory.
- Follow its link for official early voting information. Check the local election office for site addresses, dates, and hours that apply to your location.
- Compare those details with our 2026 registration deadlines and early voting dates by state. That guide labels information that has not been verified; the state or local office remains the authoritative source.
The EAC advises voters to use the linked state and local sources to confirm current timelines and voting information. A general calendar or a location listed for another county may not apply to you.
What to check before you go
- Which dates and hours apply to your county or municipality.
- Which early voting location serves your address and whether you need to use a particular location.
- What identification or other materials your state requires for your voting method.
